im a lucky girl~

Image
had an interview at Talley's this morning. a packhouse which is 11km away from the holiday park. hitch hike is the only way to get there. walked for 2 km. no car is willing to stop.  when we're about to give up, a truck stopped and offered us a ride to town. when he knew we're going for an interview at Talley's, he changed his mind. he decided to send us directly to the packhouse. such a kind man he is. he took our number as his son is also working there. so if we manage to get the job, he might be able to send us to work. thanks so much, kiwi uncle!  on our way back, we met a girl from czech republic, who's also going there for interview. she offered to send us back to town. she told us about the flat she's staying at currently. she suggested us to move there, so we could share transport to work. that's a brilliant idea, coz my rental is due tomorrow. i need to decide to stay or to move. and i need transport! working in packhouse has night shifts. ...

i got a job in ski resort this winter!

yeah people! after whining for 3 days, i have good news to share finally! i have been offered a job at the ski resort! yeah! Im going to north island mid June. hopefully by that time, i'll have enough pay slips to extend visa. then i can work at the resort till mid Oct. that's the best news so far! im truly excited with the job offer.  to celebrate this, I've made myself a super yummy breakfast. salami and cheese sandwich with ham slices. hot chocolate. and leftover feijoas from dai lou. definitely a good start for the day.  wanted to walk to the town, but i met a nice uncle who offered me a ride. so happy!  and with the free 200 mins on weekend, i have called some frens. to share the good news. to share gossips. haha. i love weekends! =)  looking forward to a better week~

back to square one

Image
the guys left ashburton an hour ago. this means we are back to square one. just me and jen, without a car. the good news is talley's called us for interview next monday. hopefully we'll be offered a job. but how are we getting there? it's 11km away from the holiday park.  and now im in the library, again. waiting for the phone call and email. ahhhhhhhhh... getting mad soon. why there's no reply yet? why?

1 month in NZ

Image
to celebrate my one month's stay in NZ, we visited peel forest and rangitata river. but i think im the only one who enjoyed the trip. the guys didnt show any interest in hiking, we only completed the big tree walk which only takes 15mins. so the trip ended quite early and they sent us back to the holiday park by 2.30pm.  anyway, i had fun with the kids and some leng zai guai lou playing soccer in the evening. surprisingly my team won. my only contribution was kicking the ball twice throughout the game. and my less than 10-year-old captain said: great effort. hahaha... he's such a cute boy. he even prepared drinks for the team. glad to be in his team!  have been checking my phone and email every 5 seconds. waiting anxiously for the phone call and email. why there's no reply yet? whereas my competitor already got the job offer. i really really wish to get the job. anyway im happy that he got the job. at least one of us got it =)  data plan...

jobless: day 7

Image
im currently in ashburton. have registered for jobs but still waiting for reply. it's quite tough to get a decent place to stay here. accommodation here is limited yet very expensive. finally managed to check myself in the holiday park.  it's time to get back to WORK. or else i'll spend whole day lepaking, eating and doing nothing significant. there's nothing much to do in ashburton town. as usual the most popular hang out spot is the library, people come just for the free internet. i have had enough of 'blow water' session with the guys. definitely need some ONLY ME time for myself.  hopefully i'll get phone call tomorrow. im all ready to start work!    visited the art gallery and museum quite interesting exhibits they have i like janet de wagt's paitnings!   and a lot of churches in town this is how i spent a day in ashburton

road trips

Image
on the way to akaroa   on the way to kaikoura  the advantage of roadtrip is you can stop whenever you want. thanks to the driver. for driving us all the way from blenheim to kaikoura, then to christchurch. and from christchurch to akaroa. what we did in the car was sleeping and snacking, haha!   not sure how long i'll tag along with the guys. just hope we can bear with each others' bad habit a little longer. as im not ready to lose the comfort of driving around with a car yet, haha. and i'll surely miss the yummy dinner prepared by dai lou =)

im moving to ashburton

Image
decision was made 3 days ago. am following dai lou's car this thursday as he needs to extend his visa in christchurch. didnt expect the whole gang is going together. just thought me and jen will tumpang his car to christchurch then we'll take bus to ashburton. called the office, 99% there's job for us. so it's time to leave blenheim. grape harvesting is ending soon anyway.  not easy to travel with 2 guys though. they're way too easy-going. every question i ask, the answer will be see how later lor, or i'll follow edward. please lah, you guys are adults, please make decision! sometimes i really feel like slapping them.  but it's so much easier to travel in car. and since they follow my plan, i have the final say on where to stop. so we'll be stopping by kaikoura tomorrow and akoroa on sunday! and they are quite nice to me lah. they cook super yummy food for me everyday, super like the sweet and sour chicken. haha.    last day at work. i...

the long awaited mussels picking trip

Image
finally we made it to whites bay. a memorable outing  picking mussels is fun too bad it wasn't low tide. sky wasn't blue. weather was super cold we still had a lot of fun it's a shame that ming and edward didnt join us. lazy fellas PS: i had my phone interview with the ski resort by the beach. very cool

i'm con to cook a dinner for 6

after the very adventurous going-uphill-with no-petrol incident, another random mission arose. i was asked to cook dinner for the housemates. luckily i have jen with me, or else i dont think they're able to have dinner that nite, haha. we cooked 3 dishes. with all the ingredients we have. it's our ration for a week! what to do. i ate their char siew last nite.  i believe my housemates are training me to become a professional housewife. thanks people. my dream is to marry a rich guy. so i'll have maid to settle all these for me.  and tonite im asked to cook 'gu lou yok', just because im not working. yea im not tall and fit enough to do wire lifting, so im off today. the rest of them went to earn money, leaving me and jen at home.  thanks to dai lou for pinjam-ing me his car. i get to drive in NZ finally! didnt waste the rm150 for international driving license. driving in NZ is as nervous as taking the driving test. i dont know who should go firs...

what's next?

Image
life have been good so far. with 6 other housemates around me, i feel too comfortable to leave blenheim.  i had bak kut teh last nite. thanks to the chef, dai lou. we went grocery shopping, wine tasting, window shopping etc together. it feels just like hanging out with frens back home. after dinner everyday, we'll sit around the dining hall to chit chat or more precisely 'blow water'.  no matter how hesitant i am to leave, i gotta leave by may. grape harvesting wont last long here. i have sent in my application for 2 other jobs here in blenheim but there is no reply yet. should i proceed with my original plan to picton? or choose another town? definitely wont go motueka. too many people there. i shouldnt take the risk since i have not secured any jobs. hopefully the interview for ski resort will be a successful one. at least i dont have to worry about winter.   my housemates, for now.  then - jerome - edward - chin - luyi - jen - ming

i went hiking, yes unbelievable!

Image
hiking at wither hills farm park on good friday! our first outing with the housemates. quite fun, despite all the teasing from the guys. had a good time with the company. we understand each other better now, at least, haha!  looking forward to our next outing! must take more pics as jerome is leaving the gang soon.  thanks dai lou for driving us back to backpackers to collect our stuff. he might look very cool, but i think he's a nice person. xie xie ni! btw im not as naive as you guys think. i will cook a feast for you all one day! stop laughing at my cooking skills.

sam is leaving blenheim
